I discovered today that I, too, have been misled (scammed, really) by Safecart as a result of registering a Wordpress plugin - free version - for which the invoice showed Total USD: $0.00 but my Paypal account was charged $97.00. Outcome of a refund request is pending, but in the meantime, I reported the transaction to the FCC and encourage those of you who've also been scammed to also report the company to the FCC so that (hopefully) something will be done about Safecart and its nefarious practices.

The FCC form is at: With just a quick Google search regarding Safecart, I found the following links to forums, threads, reviewing sites, etc. relevant to Safecart and its practices: Why hasn't Paypal blocked Safecart? If you've provided any Paypal information to Safecart and wish to stop it, act immediately with Paypal and your bank (if applicable).

To ensure Safecart is not silently charging you for a "subscription" that you didn't authorize, log into Paypal, go to Profile-Profile and Settings-My Money. Look for My Preapproved Payments, and click on Update. Click Safecart and choose Cancel.

To date you have not refunded the unauthorized charge although your customer service rep verbally agreed to do so. The follow-up email and your verbiage in the comment above, however, skid over the refund and merely explain how to avoid future charges via "automatic renewal." I never agreed to a product or charge to begin with, much less an automatic renewal, and your evasion of the matter of the original unauthorized charge is unappreciated.

We were using safecart as a payment processor for about 3 years. Never had issues. For the past two months we have offered a 7 day trial to our customers. The trial was requested by our users.

I will do that, thanks Lucian. Do a quick Google search on Safecart, and you'll find dozens of complaints about their practices.

I've been buying online for years, and I'm surprised and embarrassed to have been duped by them, so I can only imagine how you must feel, not to mention the revenue you've probably been receiving as a result of other customers who were duped by Safecart. I hope you'll look into Safecart more thoroughly and re-evaluate your relationship with a company that casts a disreputable shadow on you by association.

I followed your link and filled out the form, Lucian, thank you. I have to wonder how many other people have been taken advantage of by Safecart on your behalf without realizing it or reporting it.

Plugin developers are extremely valuable to us Wordpress users and I think they - and you - deserve every penny earned and you should be able to enjoy a good reputation as a result of the quality of your work.

I would cease doing business with any company that associated my good name and work with shady practices. See,,,, etc., etc.
